JR Harbidge Band - Friday 2nd August

If you like Bob Dylan, The Eagles, The Band or Ryan Adams you will love JR Harbidge

J R Harbidge released his debut album "First Ray Of Light" through Absolute/Sony/Universal in October 2018. The album reached number 9 in the iTunes Country chart and was critically well recieved with the album consistently receiving 4 and 5 star reviews. With a background in recording, working with the Twang and JAWS among many other artists in and around the midlands, he self recorded and mixed his debut album. J R also licensed a song to Harley Davidson to be used in a TV commercial.

Back with his band this year after his success on acoustic Sunday 2018 we can’t wait to hear him again

Turn The Screw J R Harbidge

Not Quite Dead Yet - Friday 2nd August

Not Quite Dead Yet started in 2015 when 3 Old Punks from the West Mids discovered they had ukuleles that they never played.

It started out as a bit of fun to entertain ourselves but has now escalated somewhat! We started playing just Punk songs but now just play songs we like. We started practicing in a conservatory but grew pretty quickly so ended up in the local pub. We were joined by a friend who had a double bass, another friend who played guitar and another friend of a friend turned up with a saxophone and later an aerophone! There are now about twenty people in the band (no-one is actually sure how many) because if you turn up with a uke you’re in!

We have now started to write our own songs which we are hoping to record at the end of the year and are gigging around the West Mids. Punk and Ska are probably our main influences, but as more people joined, more ideas for songs came too. Not quite Dead Yet have been described as “a tin of Punk Rock Sardines spilling onto the stage” Our main aim is still to entertain ourselves - fortunately people seem to like us too! Our motto is "This is not a Band it’s a Support Group"!

The Dynamix - Friday 2nd August

Formed in 2010 the Dynamix have been performing locally for over 9 years in pubs, clubs and festivals across the Midlands area.

The band mostly pays tribute to the classic eras of the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s, with some newer material included for variety, and although the band is firmly rooted in rock they also enjoy playing metal, reggae, pop, blues and sing-alongs. Expect to hear classics from such bands and artists as the Beatles, Queen, The Killers, Chuck Berry, Oasis, Status Quo, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and David Bowie, plus many more from their extensive library over 80 songs.

Powerful, yet subtle, drumming, melodic bass playing, ripping guitar solos and 3-part vocal harmonies ensure that this compact power trio always makes a big sound!

Slyder - Saturday 3rd August

Welcome to the Slyder Show at A5 Live 2019 🎸🎸🎸 Slyder are 'ready to rock this place' and 'shake it to the ground'! Just a few short years ago, heavy rock axemen Pete Bosworth (Hydra Vein/China/Billy's Got a Gun) and Trevor Ellis (Hydra Vein) hooked up after a 25 year hiatus. It wasn't long before they got round to discussing their undying love of rock music (it's in the blood as all true rock fans know, right?) A jam quickly proved that they could pick up pretty much where they left off all those years ago (when they had hair and everything!) Soon after, they scoured the country (well...at least from Tamworth up to Stoke!) for other hard rockin' muso's. Ace powertrain drummer and hardcore rock fan Rob Bate (Rushdown/Chemikill/S8N) replied to an ad and slotted in straight away. Pete then approached super solid bass player Malcolm Gould (China/Marshall Law/Love&War) who he had played alongside many moons ago in China (the band, not the country!) They didn't miss a beat and it was all working like a well oiled machine. What they needed now was a lead vocalist worthy of fronting up this powerhouse unit. He needed to be LOUD and POWERFUL and GOOD LOOKING! Lurking in the wilds of North Staffordshire they found a hidden treasure in Sean Coleman and thought 'Well...two out of three ain't bad'! (but seriously...you gotta hear him to believe him!) In late 2015, Trev left the band to pursue his interest in train spotting (only joking!) From over the horizon (well..Brum actually!) a saviour appeared in the form of Daz Ashton, ace guitarist and all-round nice guy (with real hair too!) So... here we are. SLYDER. Ready to rock your world with a superb mix of classic and modern rock trax (plus some of their own supercharged original numbers!) Whether you're a dyed in the leather rock aficionado or just wanna rock the night away (or maybe have just had enough of all that Hip Hop Rapping crap!) we want you to come with us and the Slyder sound...'cos we're going Down and Out!!!

Martian Social Club - Saturday 3rd August

And now for something completely different... Martian Social Club are from Walsall-We started off about five years ago with no aim other than to have a bit of a jam and amuse ourselves, but it quickly became obvious we had something interesting and original going on. Largely improvised musical interactions formed the foundation for Al Mondes' febrile flights of fancy and songs began forming from the random detritus floating around inside his head....before long we had a set of numbers that covered such diverse topics as the lamentable decline in Finch numbers over recent years, the much missed apex of British manufacturing-the Rover 2000;and everything in between-invariably subjects woefully ignored by popular music. Live gigs have been rapturously received across the Midlands and we present our off kilter show with tongue in cheek verve and not a little charm.....you could liken us to a discotheque experienced in a dream state after heavy ingestion of cheese before bedtime-or the band booked for a residency in a Working Mens club on Mars during the early years of colonisation-Martian Social Club..

That all changed when he and his former bandmates were signed to Molaman Records' successful sub-label Solrpony Muzik in the fall of 2013. Fans quickly became entralled with the emotionally charged guitar strumming tenor and within weeks the trio played the presigious 02 Academy's o3 Stage. In the past four years Jake has progressed not only as a guitarist but also an accomplished singer performing solo events and concerts!

At A5 Live Festival 2018 Jake made such an impression on us all here during his set on Acoustic Sunday that we had to get him back on stage!

In March 2019 Jake was offered the guitarist/vocalist role in School of Rock tribute act Teachers Pet and has been gigging extensively ever since! 🎸🎸🎸 Jake’s solo show features songs from diverse acts such as Aerosmith, The Police, Fall Out Boy and Brian Adams.
